David has over 30 years of legal experience in estate planning, estate and trust administration, tax planning, and closely held business matters.

David is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and served as Virginia State Chair from 2004 through 2008. He is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, a past member of the Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar Trusts and Estates Section, and past president of the Estate Planning Council of Richmond. He is also a member of the University of Richmond Estate Planning Advisory Council. David is a frequent lecturer and author on estate planning, tax, and estate and trust administration matters. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America.

David is active in the community, including having served as president and board member of A Grace Place (formerly Adult Care Services), a non-profit provider of adult day care services for disabled individuals. He currently serves on the advisory board.

David graduated from Yale in 1973 and from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1977.
