Mac has been practicing in the areas of estate planning and estate and trust administration for over 33 years. A significant portion of his practice also involves charitable gift planning. Virginia Business magazine has selected Mac on multiple occasions as a member of the "Legal Elite." He is also listed annually in the Best Lawyers in America.
Mac is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He enjoyed a long tenure as Chairman of the Membership Committee of the Richmond Estate Planning Council. He also served as Chairman of the Virginia State Bar Committee on Trusts and Estates, and as a member of the University of Richmond Estate Advisory Council. His community service includes serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of Collegiate School, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Reveille United Methodist Church, basketball coach at the Tuckahoe YMCA, baseball coach at the Tuckahoe Little League (for 19 years), and President of the Princeton Association of Virginia.
Mac received his M.A. and his J.D. degrees from University of Virginia in 1978. He graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University in 1975.
